Playground Program, Summer field trips

This program is currently unavailable. Click here to view all of our current programs.

A bunch of smiling kids in a park.
The kids who sign up for individual weeks, during the particular week of their attendance, they can also sign up for that particular weeks’ trip.  Payment is due on or before the Monday prior to the field trip.  Kids must wear their program T shirt the day of the trip or they cannot attend.

We will be offering 7 field trips this year.  The PRD is keeping the price of the field trips artificially low as we are covering the cost of transportation again this year.  Some field trips are limited so sign up sooner than later so you do not lose a spot on the trip roster!

Week 2 - Roll on America in Lancaster, MA. Wednesday, July 3rd.  An indoor fun experience!! One can play lazer tag, roller blade/roller skate and more all day long!  Roll on America will not let us bring in food, so part of the cost also includes 2 slices of pizza per child and a small drink. Extra money is not needed. However, if you child wants to buy tokens for the arcade games or purchase extra food, the money would be a good idea. Depart at 9:30am, return by 4:00pm $25.00/person

Week 3 - Peterborough Players in Peterborough, NH. Wednesday, July 10th. Depart at 10:45am, return by 3pm. The show is "How I Became a Pirate".  Cost includes ice cream that we will have after lunch.  Lunch is not included. 9:45am to 3pm. Cost:  $8/person

Week 4 - LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Somerville, MA.  Wednesday, July 17th. Depart Adams at 8:45am and return by 4:30pm.  Cost:  $21/person

Week 5 - Great Bay Sanctuary in Greenland, NH.  Wednesday, July 24th.   This trip includes time exploring the Discovery Tank (where the kids get to learn and hold some of the animals that live in Great Bay) and do some mudflat exploration.  Some activities will occur on the boardwalk learning about osprey and animals in the upland.  Bring a packed lunch along with icky clothes and shoes (see below).   Depart Adams Playground at 9:30am and return by 4:30pm.  If Weds is full of thunderstorms, the kids will go on Thursday, July 25th.
Cost:  $6/person

Requests from the Naturalist at the Great Bay Sanctuary:
1.    If you are going to be applying sunscreen and/or bug spray I ask that you do not apply it from the elbows down.  The chemicals are not safe for our critters in the tank and that will prevent us from all having to trek to the bathroom to wash hands

2.   Please stress to the kids to wear clothes and shoes they do not mind getting muddy and/or wet!  Please no crocs or flipflops, as they will most likely get lost in the mud.  This helps prevents injuries, as we really do not encourage going barefoot because of the many broken shells in the mud.  An old pair of sneakers really works the best.  Being dressed appropriately and not having to worry about what you have on seems to make the kids much more willing to explore and just have fun!

Week 6 - Hike Lockes Hill and swim in Lake Winnipesaukee, Gilford, NH.  Wednesday, July 31st.  Bad weather make up day is Thursday, August 1st.  Please have your child wear sturdy shoes, daypack, pack plenty of water, a good lunch, bug spray, sun screen, swim suit and towel.  Locke's Hill is a 1.8 mile loop that is highly recommended for kids.  We will be going to the Ellacoya State Park at Lake Winnipesaukee to swim and have lunch.  We will depart at 8:30am and return by 4:30pm.  Cost:  $5/person

Week 7 - Candia Springs Water Park in Candia, NH. Wednesday, August 7th. Bring a lunch, sunscreen, swimsuit and towel and possibly extra spending money. Depart at 8:45am, return by 4:30pm. Rainy day make-up date is Thursday, August 8th.  Cost:  $19/person

Week 8 - BeanStalk Adventure Ropes Course and the Ipswich River Park in Reading, MA.  Wednesday, August 14th.  (2) indoor courses;  one for kids 48 inches and under and one for kids over 48 inches.   We will go to the Ipswich River Park for a picnic lunch. Please pack plenty of water and a bag lunch and sturdy shoes.  Depart Adams at 10am and return by 4:30pm.  Cost:  $15/person.  For this trip, I need a solid headcount by Tuesday, August 6th.  Please register early.
