Esports

Don't let Covid stop you from some safe competitive fun between friends.  Peterborough Recreation is stepping into the wild world of esports.  Esports is one of the fastest growing competitions in the world and we want to allow players a safe way to compete with friends on your own in the confines of your own home.  

Esports is a form of sport competition using video games. Esports often takes the form of organized, multi-player video game competitions, particularly between individually or as teams.

We are offering the following games in our competitions:
Rocket League Beginner (3 v 3, any device except Mac) Game is free to Download
Rocket League Competitive (3 v 3, any device except Mac) Game is free to Download
NHL21 (1 v 1. Xbox One) 
NHL21 (1 v 1. PlayStation 4)
Super Smash Bros Ultimate. (1 v 1, Nintendo Switch)

Leagues will be run through GGLeagues online gaming and will consist of a six week season where players will play a game a week.  At the end of the season, players will participate in a single elimination tournament to crown the champion. 

All games will be played within the NH Rec Esports League. Each league winner will be crowned the NH Rec League Esports Champion.  

Who: ages 8+ 
When: 
Rocket League Tournaments March 6th 2-6pm
NHL21 Tournaments March 13th 2-6pm
Super Smash Bros Tournaments March 20th 2-6pm
Where:  Games are played at your house
Cost: $20 per league ( you can play in multiple Tournaments)
Registration Deadline: 
Rocket League Deadline February 26th
NHL21 Deadline March 5th
Super Smash Bros March 12th  


To play, you must have a console/computer to play on, email address, own the game you are registering to play and have the ability to play live.  All games are monitored by GGLeagues and players are held to a code of conduct to maintain a fun and safe gaming atmosphere.  

Once registered with Peterborough Recreation Department you will have to create an account with GGLeagues. Directions are below.

For multiplayer (2v2, 3v3, 4v4, 5v5, 6v6) leagues:

1. Create an account on GGLeagues platform.
2. One member of the team will create a new team: www.ggleagues.com/teams/new
3. The remaining team members will join that newly created team. The teammate that created the team can invite the remaining members to the team or the teammates can search the team name here: https://app.ggleagues.com/teams
4. Register for the league you would like to participate in here: www.ggleagues.com/organization/peterborough
