Swimming Lessons, Building Skills
Coordinators:  PRD Staff
We will be offering in-house swimming lessons without an affiliation to a national organization. Several of our swimming lesson staff have years of experience.  These classes are structured like the popular classes we offered last year.

Each session will last a week, Monday through Friday without the usual thunderstorm make-up day. These lessons will be held at Adams Pool.

Building Skills is for any age, but we expect many of the registrants to be younger.  If you have an older child at this skill level, please consider the Building Skills (2) which was scheduled for the older swimmers in mind. Some prerequisites are: ability to put one's face in the water, float 7 to 10 seconds, move above and below the water.  The depth of the shallow end of the pool, where this group will be taught, is about 3 feet so we request that the participant be at least three feet tall or be able to hold onto the side of the pool independently. If not, consider enrolling your child in Learning Basics as many of these kids will have access to life jackets.

Building Skills (older)
is for 7 years of age and older.  If your child is tall, they may sign up for this regardless of age but please know that these lessons are taught near the middle of the pool where it is a bit deeper. This time slot is geared to older children who would be okay with the deeper water (about half-way along the length of the pool).  Some prerequisites are:  ability to put one's face in the water, float 7 to 10 seconds, move above and below the water.

Building Skills (any age) We will also be offering combo classes that does not try to separate the older and younger kids.

Purpose:  This class is primarily offered to build swimming skills, learning to swim on one's front and back, work on breathing patterns.  Some water safety will be taught at every level.  The participant is in the lesson without a care giver.  The maximum number of participants is 6/class.
