Trip - Whale Watch in Gloucester
A Voyage in Search of Leviathan
Program Description
“Call me Ishmael.” Or, better yet, call us adventurers—because we’re setting sail for Gloucester, Massachusetts, in search of the great creatures of the deep!
Join us for a day inspired by the timeless spirit of Moby-Dick as we journey to the coast aboard our 15-passenger bus. We’ll depart from the Recreation Office and make our way to Gloucester, where our voyage truly begins at the wharf. There, we’ll climb aboard a whale-watching vessel operated by the family-owned 7 Seas Whale Watch and head out onto the open Atlantic. For approximately 3–4 hours, we’ll scan the horizon for spouts, fins, flukes, and perhaps—if fortune favors our crew—a glimpse of the mighty leviathans that call these waters home. Keep your eyes on the horizon and your sea legs ready; no one knows what may rise from the deep!
After our nautical expedition, we’ll return to shore for a well-earned late lunch next to the wharf at Blue Collar Lobster. With full bellies and tales of the day’s great sightings, we’ll climb back aboard our own little Pequod and set a course for Peterborough.
All hands aboard for a day of salt air, sea stories, and adventure! Whether we encounter a humpback, a fin whale, or simply the endless blue expanse of the Atlantic, this is a voyage you won’t soon forget.
