10:00 AM - 10:30 AM    Swimming Lessons 2026 - Learning Basics - Learning Basics, Session 1, S1GA
Swimming Lessons, Learning BasicsCoordinators:  PRD StaffWe will be offering in-house swimming lessons without an affiliation to a national organization. Several of our swimming lesson staff have years of experience.  These classes are structured like the popular classes we offered last year. Each session will last a week, Monday through Friday, without the usual thunderstorm make-up day. These lessons will be held at Adams Pool.Learning Basics is for any age but geared towards PK/Kindergarten and early elementary school age children. Some prerequisites are: a desire to float and learn how to swim. This participant is comfortable putting their face in the water but is just starting learning how to move through the water.  This class is also good for the child who is under 3 feet tall or cannot hold onto the wall independently as life jackets will be more available for this program than the Building Skills program.  Based upon our experience from last year, we will break this group into a younger and older kids session so kids can learn amongst peers.Purpose:  The goals of this class to reinforce the desire to be comfortable in the water and learn some introductory propulsion moves.  Safety is taught, at group appropriate levels, in every class.  Class limit is 6 participants.Session Schedule:Session 1 - June 22-26Session 2 - June 29- July 3 Session 3 - July 6 - 10Session 4 - July 13-17Session 5 - July 20 - 24Session 6 - July 27 - July 31Session 7 - August 3-7Session 8 - August 10-14 Cost:          $24/session/resident of Peterborough                   $31/session/non-resident  Time:          Group A, 10:00am to 10:30am -younger kids 4-6 years old                    Group B, 10:35am to 11:05am -younger kids 4-6 years old                    Group C, 11:10am to 11:40am -older kids 6+ years                    Group D, 11:45am-12:15am -older kids 6+ years   Payment required before attending.  Rosters will be printed Friday at noon prior to each session. 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM    Swimming lessons 2026 - Pre-Swimmers - Pre-swimmers, Session 1, S1GA
Swimming Lessons, Pre-SwimmersCoordinators: PRD StaffWe will be offering in-house swimming lessons without an affiliation to a national organization. Several of our swimming lesson staff have years of experience.  These classes are structured like the popular classes we offered last year - offered in the morning this year. Each session will last a week, Monday through Friday, without the usual thunderstorm make-up day. These lessons will be held at Adams Pool.Pre-Swimmers is for any age, but we expect many of the registrants to be younger. The big difference between Pre-swimmer and Tiny Tots is the absence of a caretaker in the water with the child. This is the first step of a participant in being in the water independently. These registrants will be learning in the shallow end of the pool.  Prerequisites are being able to blow bubbles, confidently submerge mouth in water and can jump on land. A support person for the participant is not expected in this class. If the child has separation anxiety from a guardian, please consider enrolling in the Tiny Tots class.Purpose:  This class is primarily offered to build confidence in the water, entering and exiting the water voluntarily and moving independently. Some water safety will be taught at every level.  The participant is in the lesson without a care giver.  This class is limited to 4 participants per class so if these groups fills up, you may want to consider Tiny Tots and being in the water with your child.
